North Coast Strength helps people become the best version of themselves through well planned and deliberate physical effort.  We offer solutions for individualized human wellness and performance programming for those seeking to reduce risk of injury, restore movement and performance from previous injury, and to maximize their ability to have fulfilling physical experiences. We have worked with a range of athletes on the performance spectrum from those seeking to complete their first 5k, pre-natal mothers, weekend warriors preparing for ski season, cross-fit athletes, and many in the Special Operations community.

 

We believe strongly in a systems approach to human performance and wellness, and as such every program is individualized to the specific needs and environment of each individual.

Andrew Brown PT, DPT, MS

Since childhood, Andrew has been a practitioner of movement in some form. From his early days developing kinesthetic awareness in Taekwondo, weekends spent skiing in Northern New Mexico, to his later pursuits in trail running, powerlifting, and olympic weightlifting, Andrew’s diverse athletic background has given him unique insight into a myriad of training philosophies and principles.

His passion for movement led him to pursue his Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. Andrew obtained his Master’s of Science in Kinesiology at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, where he studied the effects of breath training on high intensity cycling performance. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Puget Sound. He has worked in a variety of rehabilitation and performance contexts including sports -orthopedic rehabilitation, private, group, high school, Division II collegiate, and tactical populations.

Andrew’s combined experiences in sport performance, wellness coaching, and rehabilitation have led him to adopt a holistically minded approach to physical therapy and performance programming that takes each individuals personal factors and goals into account when developing a program. He strongly believes in training safely around injuries and finding ways for his patients to stay as active as possible throughout the rehab process.

Aside from training, coaching, and staying up to date on the most current research, Andrew enjoys spending his time outdoors and at various craft breweries with his wife, Amber, and their dogs and training partners, Cedar and Baker.
